A former Senate Leader, Senator
Ali Ndume, has revealed what he will do for the rest of his tenure in the Upper
Chamber as he is set to return after a six-month suspension which was slammed
on him by his colleagues earlier in the year.
Ndume who was suspended on March
29, 2017, is expected to return on Friday.
Recall that Ndume was suspended
following a point of order he raised on the Senate President, Senator Bukola
Saraki and Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye (APC,
Kogi).
The lawmaker told DailyTrust that
his only agenda now, just like before, remained the plight of thousands of
people of his constituency who had been rendered homeless as a result of
insurgency.
According to him, humanitarian
crisis in his constituency had not received the necessary attention, especially
in the area of provision of funds to fix the damage wreaked by the insurgency.
He said, “If I resume next
Tuesday, my one and only agenda is on the plight of my constituents. The
humanitarian situation is worrisome and this is why it will be my one and only
agenda.”
